Evidence For Impending Change Re: "Loose Conduct" to "Brazen Conduct"

on another thread discussing possible changes to the nwt, the post refered to a 2nd-hand report of a co leaking possible changes to 5 verses where "loose conduct" would be replaced by "brazen conduct.

" although it is merely speculative at this point, i would like to remind those of you who did attend the 2012 dc this summer about some important evidence that supports this theory.

I AGREE with Sulla. And with jws comment - once you're disfellowshipped, there's a good chance you don't come back.

I could see them down-grading a meaning to keep more from leaving. Also, if it was a change in loose-conduct to brazen- why would they have recently called the special elders school? The programs for the DC are prepared a year? in advance. If that was the change- wouldn't it have been part of the planning preparation? Wouldn't a new bible have been released at this years convention?

Personally, as I said on Nicsfreedoms thread- I think the change is to the 2 Witness rule. There are 5 scriptures that pertain to it- Deut 17:6 ; Deut 19:15;Matt 18:16; 2Cor 13:1; 1 Tim 5:19. And the WTS were completely blind-sided by the Candace Conti verdict. And wasn't the lawsuit only filed this year?

Remember, before filing a law-suit, Candace approached the elders about changing policy regarding pedophiles. Because she didn't have another Witness to corroborate her accusation they didn't want to listen.(Correct me if I'm wrong) They wouldn't listen to her without their being another person to testify that they saw her sexually molested as a 9 year old child. (As if a pedophile is going to sexually abuse someone in front of an eye-witness)

That's my reasoning at work. But, obviously, as a person who became a JW and willingly chose to be a JW, I've been wrong about things before!!!

Are the Jews meek?

i thought these were pretty surprising comments in the consolation magazine in 1946, just a few months after the full horrors of the holocaust emerged, under the heading "are the jews meek?":.

"there is no evidence in the scriptures that the jews as a people are meek.

on the contrary, jehovah's witnesses only find it stated in the bible that the jews are "stiff-necked and hard-hearted", but when they call at their homes with the message of god's kingdom they witness the same characteristics.

Predjudice and intolerance knows no boundaries. I bristled at the commentary & quotes you provided from the article "Are Jews Meek?" (Jan.2, 1946 Consolation mag)

Unfortunately, even today in the year 2012, that kind of thinking exists among people who claim to be "footstep followers" of Jesus, and who claim to believe that "God is impartial" and "the meek will inherit the earth".

(The last time I spent in D2D service, we were 5 in a car, in a predominately jewish territory. 3 of the 4 in the car made similar comments: " Jews are "stiff-necked and hard-hearted" and "They will never get the truth. They still think they are God's chosen people".

What I found utterly sad about it was- 2 of the JW's were African American. The other was Cuban American. All were in their mid to late 20's. And those 3 were raised as JW's. )

Thanks SBF for pointing out the WTS's inflammatory commentary, bias and insensitivity, a mere 7 months after the end of WWII! And after millions of Jews had been systematically murdered because of their race. It's not only disgusting, but reeks of their history of hypocrisy.

Candace Conti's Sur-Reply is Very Effective

at oral argument on august 13th, the court requested additional briefing from candace regarding the punitive damages being contested by watchtower.

from the case law cited in the brief it is demonstrated that the award of punitive damages is on solid legal ground.

although the court had until august 25 to render its decision as to whether the present judgment will be altered and watchtower granted a new trial, the court docket indicates that the court has entered an order already.

I remember an Ebony mag interview in the spring or summer 2010- it was several pages and he did talk about being a Witness. He may have mentioned his baptism.

Funerals of Disfellowshipped ones.

some time ago someone posted some information here from some of the wt literature (possibly questions from the readers) that shows it would be inappropriate for a jw to attend the funreal of a disfellowshipped person.

when our son was undergoing cancer treatment while disfellowshipped we realized that if he didn't make it, we'd be on our own to bury him.

thankfully he survived but it was this realization and the way the family and friends abandoned us during our darkest hour that started our exit from the religion and eventually sent us packing for good.

I can't exwhyzee- just want to say that I'm happy for you and your family that your son made it. To think when we need "friends" through our biggest hardest struggles and pain- and they're not there. I'm glad that you woke up. ( I know this s/h/b/ pm'd- I don't know how!)

Quite frankly, I think JW's would view this as very resonable and not blink an eye.

I'm just saying that if the new info has to do with the 2 Witness Rule............

Yes, I agree that's a good reason and that shouldn't cause any upheaval or unnecessary explanation.

But, definitely, the change, if it is 2Wtns was precipitated by the Candace Conti verdict.

Initially C.Conti attempted a policy change on the 2 Witness rule that they ignored.

"The current policies of Jehovah’s Witnesses prevent elders from acknowledging cases of child abuse if the perpetrator denies the allegations, and if no witnesses were involved."-

The “two witness rule” – The Society believes that this rule, which is based on Deuteronomy 19:15, should be applied rigidly whenever a case of child abuse is reported. This means that if somebody molests a child without any witnesses and subsequently denies any wrongdoing, the elders will be forced to take no further action against him, and continue as though nothing has happened. Victims of child molesters and their parents are coerced into not revealing the identity of the abuser to others in the congregation, and can even be threatened with being disfellowshipped on grounds of slander if they breach this person’s confidentiality by trying to warn others. This scenario is what is normally referred to when people talk about Jehovah’s Witnesses “protecting pedophiles”, because pedophiles can (and do) easily take advantage of the Society’s leniency in order to repeatedly abuse children over many years whilst escaping punishment or exposure.( From Cedars blog)

But, again, those scriptures should not have be applicable to children. And they also need to change the way elders handle the way they treat known pedos in the cong.

Neither of these would have a major impact on the JW belief- they will most likely be agreeable to these changes.

Maybe the change has to do with the 2 Witness rule not being applicable to children as a result of the Candace Conti verdict. ( It never should have applied to children in the first place!)
